Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was born on 22 May 1859 at 11 Picardy Place, Edinburgh.
His birthplace was demolished around 1970, but this statue of Sherlock Holmes is opposite where it stood.
Not quite the incarnation of Sherlock I love the most though :-)
Mini version of The Kelpies at the Falkirk Wheel yesterday.
iPhone snap.
I couldn’t resist the mystery of St Andrew Square surrounded by the mist and soft light. Edinburgh is truly amazing!
The Scottish National Portrait Gallery is currently showing the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize, a collection of awe-inspiring photos – if you like photography it’s a must-see.
The exhibition runs until 26 May 2014.
The Gallery, recently renovated, is a beautiful building that makes lovely use of light.
I loved how the daylight breathed life into this solitary chair.
